On our little journey through Venezuela, we came across a little-known treasure – Chorro el Indio, a stunning waterfall near San Cristobal.
Exploring Chorro el Indio
Chorro el Indio is a breathtaking waterfall in the Táchira state of Venezuela, not too far from San Cristobal. What makes it special is its impressive 60-meter drop, surrounded by amazing greenery, creating a stunning backdrop for memorable photos. It’s a perfect spot for those who want to experience Venezuela’s natural beauty without going too far from the city. Plus, there’s a small shop at the bottom where you can grab a drink. When I visited, it wasn’t crowded, so I could enjoy the peacefulness.
Getting There
Reaching Chorro el Indio is simple. It’s right by the road from San Cristobal to Macanillo, and you can get there by car, hitchhiking, or a hike from the city. Hiking might take a bit longer, but it’s a lovely journey through a national park.
What to Do at Chorro el Indio
When you arrive at the waterfall, you can take a cool swim. Just be careful while walking on the rocks to stay safe. The water is refreshing, and although there’s a slight risk of falling rocks due to flooding, it’s generally safe.
As I mentioned, there’s a small shop at the base of the waterfall where you can get snacks and drinks. It’s not a fancy place, and its hours can be unpredictable, so it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks.
The best part of the experience is enjoying yourself in nature and the peaceful surroundings. Listen to the sounds of the water nearby, and you’ll forget about the outside world. The fact that it’s not crowded adds to the sense of calmness.
