I visited Tashkent in Uzbekistan twice and things changed!
When you want to visit this city don’t miss the Magic City. This relatively new attraction has quickly become a must-visit spot for locals and tourists.
Here’s why the Magic City should be on your Tashkent itinerary – and a few reasons why it might not be for everyone.
What is the Magic City?
The Magic City is a modern entertainment complex located in the heart of Tashkent. Opened in recent years, it’s designed to be a “magical escape” within the bustling city. The area features beautifully designed buildings, themed areas, and a variety of attractions for all people.
Highlights of the Magic City
- Architectural Marvels: The Magic City is known for its stunning architecture, combining traditional Uzbek elements with modern design. The intricate tile work, grand arches, and vibrant colors create a visual experience.
- Entertainment for All Ages: From the amusement park attractions to peaceful gardens and art, the Magic City offers something for everyone.
Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or solo, you’ll find many things to see and do! - Cultural: The Magic City also serves as a cultural hub, performing sometimes traditional Uzbek music, dance, and art. Regular performances and exhibitions provide a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan’s culture.
- Shopping and Dining: At the end it is a place for shopping and spending money. It’s probably a good place to pick up souvenirs.
Why You Should Visit
The Magic City is more than just an amusement park; it’s a cultural and architectural wonder that offers a mix into Uzbekistan’s past and future. It’s an ideal spot for families, couples, and solo travelers looking to experience something unique and “magical”.
Reasons You Might Skip the Magic City
- Commercialization: If you’re seeking an authentic, traditional experience of Uzbekistan, the Magic City will feel a bit too commercialized. It’s designed to be a tourist attraction, and some travelers might find it lacking in the local experience, which is true. Still you will find many locals there.
- Crowds: The Magic City can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. If you prefer quieter, less touristy spots, the place might be overwhelming.
- Cost of attractions: Visiting the place completely for free, but everything you are able to do costs money and compared to the rest of the city it is expensive!
- Not a Historical Site: Unlike many other attractions in Tashkent, the Magic City is a modern creation.
Getting There
The Magic City is located in Tashkent’s center and is easily accessible by public transport or even walk. The best time to visit is during the evening when the lights are on. During the day there are less people though.
Final Thoughts
If you’re in Tashkent, the Magic City is a place you should visit.
However, it’s not for everyone. If you’re after a more authentic or quiet experience, you might want to explore other parts of the city. Pack your camera, bring your sense of adventure.
I personally enjoyed the place, it had something positive with it. Although I wasn’t spending any money there, I was still able to enjoy it.
My favorite is for sure the natural places behind all the shops!
