Let me tell you straight up – if you’re heading through Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) in Istanbul, get ready for a rough ride. After dealing with its crazy chaos a bunch of times, I can tell you for sure that SAW is probably the world’s worst airport!

Why SAW is that bad?

Imagine walking into SAW and it’s like a big mess – long lines, grumpy people, and everything feeling super crazy. The security check? It’s like something out of a scary movie – long lines, stressed-out workers, and just chaos. And here’s the kicker – even if you’re just passing through on a layover, you still have to deal with all that mess.

Once you get through security, you’re stuck in a big place of endless amount of people, that feels more like a cattle pen than an airport. And let’s talk about how clean it is – or how not clean it is. SAW is for such an “important” airport very dirty.

The Devil’s in the Details

Now, let’s talk about the stuff SAW offers. The free internet? It’s more like free frustration. Yeah, it’s supposed to be free, but not for long and then you are being stuck there for more hours. And don’t even think about grabbing some food or doing some shopping – unless you want to pay a ton for a bad sandwich. It is more expensive, or same prices then in France at the airport.

Anything good about SAW?

Okay, to be fair, SAW isn’t all bad. Being close to the heart of Istanbul has its perks. When you are just wanting to visit Istanbul as itself, then SAW might even be an option, but not for But let’s be real – is it worth all the trouble? Maybe for some people, but not for me.

The Last Straw

My last showdown with SAW happened during a late-night layover that was a total nightmare. I couldn’t leave the airport because of some weird rule, and it took forever to sort out with the police. By the time I could leave, I’d missed my last bus and was beyond frustrated.

Summary

So, here’s the deal: unless you’re into pain or really like headaches, or wanting to visit Istanbul, do yourself a favor and stay away from Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Trust me, the cheap flights aren’t worth all the hassle. Save yourself the stress and find another way – you’ll thank me later.
